Philippe Lauzier (*1977)
Bass Clarinet, Saxophones

Philippe Lauzier (*1977) is a saxophonist, clarinetist, improviser and composer. Born in Montreal, he has built his connections with the musical scene since his young age. Thoroughly modern and open to different approaches, Lauzier distinguishes himself with polyphonic and timbral sounds, which sings in a singular manner.

He has performed in Canada, the United States, Europe and Australia. His recent projects include a solo work, Toiture with Corinne René, La Formule XYZ with Martin Tétreault, Subsurface with Nils Ostendorf and Philip Zoubek, Sainct Laurens with Pierre-Yves Martel, Disparition de l'usine éphémère (2008), Today is a Special Day (2006) and more, which have received rave reviews for both their performances and recordings released on &records, schraum or Ambiances Magnétiques.

Outside of his own projects, Philippe collaborates with a number of musicians from Montreal and abroad, in improvised music, experimental, jazz or others. Since 2007, He's part of the group Quartetski who rethinks and reinterprets the works of great composers in an improvised setting. We also see him working in collaboration with modern dance and theatre.

Philippe Lauzier appears on schraum 11 & 18.
